New Study - The Wednesday Morning Women's Bible Study is beginning a new 4 week study for Advent, Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado. The dates are November 8th and 15th, and December 6th and 13th. 2017 Katy Community Thanksgiving Feast - Holy Covenant will be hosting the 2017 Katy Community Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 23rd There are many ways that you can help: set up classrooms on Monday the 20th; set up, greet, pray, serve and tear down on November 23rd, and return classrooms back to original format on Friday, November 24th. You can sign up online HERE, or stop by Covenant Walk beginning October 29th. We will also be accepting donations of new blankets, new or gently used coats and children's books, diapers and non-perishable food items (bring to Covenant Hall during the month of November). Whatever you can do is appreciated!
Children's Christmas Musical - Come spend a day in a manger! All children in grades 1st-5th are invited to join the MusicLab children in presenting their first Christmas musical: A Day in a Manger on Sunday, December 3rd. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00pm in the choir room; the final dress rehearsal is Saturday morning, December 2nd. Nativity Set Needed - The MusicLab kids need your help with props! The storyline of our Christmas musical calls for the cast to be unpacking and setting up a nativity scene in their "front yard". We need a sturdy but not too heavy, moderately-sized set that we may borrow for the Christmas musical on December 3rd. Staff Position Openings - Staff Position Opening HCKaty has an open position and your Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the current staffing gap.
Security Coordinator: Provides security and other staff functions for after office hours meetings and events held on the church campus. This includes facility support before, during and after meetings, representing the staff after hours and being the staff liaison for any problems and issues that may arise. This part-time position will require between 18 and 25 hours per week and will report to our Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, Reggie Harris. Emergency Response Teams - Our ERT's are taking a well deserved respite this weekend from mucking and gutting homes from Hurricane Harvey. They will be re-evaluating what their next steps will be for this ministry. On that note - the SW District-wide Recovery Team is looking for all those who would be interested in working recovery efforts at a district level. As we wind down in our immediate area, we will be shifting gears and working more broadly. Junior Achievement at Winborn Elementary - Members are needed to teach Junior Achievement at Winborn Elementary on Fridays from 9:00am-2:00pm. Dates needed are: September 29, October 27, January 5, 2018, January 26, 2018 and February 1, 2018. All presentation material is provided. We need 5 to 6 people at a minimum. College Goodie Boxes - The Fellowship Team at Holy Covenant will be sending out "College Goodie Boxes" during the 2017-2018 school year. If you are interested in have a box sent to your college student or another college student you love, forms are available in the church office or the Narthex. The cost per student is $35.00 for in state and $45.00 for out of state. This covers only the cost of the postage. Please return the completed form with cash or check payable to HCUMC (memo-College Box) to the church office. Payment MUST be paid in full in order for your student to receive his or her box.
HCKaty Helps JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT - If you are a stay at home parent, retired, or just have a few hours a week available during the day, you might be interested in helping our local elementary & Jr. High schools with Junior Achievement. JA is used to bring outside members of our community into the schools to inspire and help prepare young people to succeed, not only in a global economy but in life. These short video vignettes will be used on our website to help those outside of our congregation understand what it means to be in ministry at our church, as well as the caring family that is found here. Counters Needed - The Finance Team is looking for volunteers that could count the weekly offering at 9:00am on Monday mornings in the church office. Counting will be done in teams of two on a rotational basis and should take less than an hour of your time. No experience is necessary. Wrapped in Love - We have several crocheted prayer shawls, baby and fleece blankets that are ready for delivery in gift bags in the workroom cabinet. If you have a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker who would appreciate one, feel free to take one for them. We ask only that you sign our sign out sheet so we can keep our inventory current and know who the recipients are to ensure there are no duplications.

Worsted Yarn Needed! - The Wrapped in Love ladies are asking for your help. They are looking for donations of worsted yarn. It takes about 12oz for a prayer shawl and 16oz for a baby blanket. They would appreciate your support as they begin a new season of knitting and crocheting beginning next Wednesday January 20th as part of the Wednesday Night Encounter Classes.
