Welcome to Embrace: Holy Covenant UMC’s Special Needs Ministry! We are thrilled to be serving our community and to share with you the enclosed information. We lovingly refer to our special needs participants as VIPs (Very Important People.) You will continually see and hear this reference throughout our program.
Our mission is:
“To provide meaningful experiences for families of individuals with special needs to learn about God and His great love for them. It is our goal to partner with these families in an effort to enhance the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of all family members.”
Our Embrace Ministry provides a worship class for participants during the 11 am worship hour. All VIPs will be partnered with a buddy to help them actively participate in classroom activities. This will allow the parents of VIPs to attend worship service, knowing that their child is safe, nurtured, and engaged in meaningful activities.
Embrace Ministry is comprised of other components aside from our worship class.
Our Embrace Soccer program is an indoor soccer league for players 5 years old and up who use manual wheelchairs. Abbie Wylie is the coordinator of this program.
Embrace also offers respite time for the parents of our VIPs. R&R- Rest & Recreation allows the parents of our VIPs some time to themselves while our VIPs and buddies have time to bond, play games, and just have fun alongside peers.
Our ministry is growing and we are eager to share this exciting time with you. Come grow with us!!!
